Amresh Kumar Singh, an Independent Member of Parliament, expressed his dissatisfaction with the mishandling of the waste crisis in Kathmandu during House of Representatives meeting on today.

Singh requested that all garbage be piled in front of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah's residence, stating "Balen ji taught us that if it doesn't work, we dump the garbage there." He accused Shah of teaching this "tit-for-tat" approach after the Metropolitan Corporation had previously dumped garbage in front of a road department office.

Calling Mayor Shah a "populist", Singh warned that dictatorships can arise from populism, drawing a parallel to Adolf Hitler's rise in Germany. He questioned if discrimination would continue under the current government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who had fought to end discrimination.

Singh demanded answers from Deputy PM Ravi Lamichhane on the lack of employment opportunities, asking "Shouldn't there be poor people living in your country? Whoever wants a job, should he eat a stick or split his head?"

The MP expressed his backing for the recent demonstration held by scrap dealers in the New Baneshwor region of Kathmandu, who claimed to have been subjected to police brutality. He declared that all MPs would participate in and endorse the scrap dealers' protest, regardless of any coercive measures taken against them.

The garbage crisis has heightened tensions over solid waste mismanagement plaguing the Nepal capital.
