Madhes Province Minister Calls for Prioritizing Adherence to Constitution and Rule of Law by All Levels of Government

Janakpur, May 9 (News Agency) - Rajkumar Lekhi, Minister of Home, Communications and Law of Madhes Province, has expressed concerns over delays from the Union Government in formulating necessary laws, which he says is hampering law implementation in the province.

Addressing a program organized by his ministry on the occasion of Law Day, Minister Lekhi stated that the Union Government's lack of urgency in lawmaking has created problems in properly implementing laws across Madhes Province.

"If the Union Government does not show due diligence in law making, there will be problems in the implementation of laws in the provinces," Lekhi said. He urged the central government to expedite the lawmaking process.

The Minister claimed that while the Madhes government has worked actively to enact required legislation in a short period, complications have arisen in ensuring full implementation due to the lack of supporting laws from the Union level.

Lekhi said his ministry has engaged in discussions with various stakeholders to find solutions. He called on authorities at all levels of government to prioritize adherence to the constitution and rule of law.

Also speaking at the event, Home Secretary Sharda Thapa noted a lack of public awareness about the roles of provincial assembly members. Chief Justice of Janakpur High Court Srikant Paudel highlighted that although Madhes has enacted laws, lack of legal awareness among citizens remains a concern.
