Parliament to discuss government policies amid opposition protests

The Parliament Secretariat has set a possible agenda for Friday's House of Representatives meeting to discuss and potentially pass the government's policies and programs presented by President Ramchandra Paudel on May 14th.

As per the proposed agenda, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' will table a proposal to initiate discussions on the annual policies and programs. Amendments received from Members of Parliament will then be presented.

The Prime Minister will also respond to questions raised by MPs regarding the policies and programs during the meeting scheduled for 11 am on Friday.

However, the main opposition Congress party has been demanding the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee to probe alleged misappropriation of cooperative funds, naming the Home Minister. Congress has warned of not allowing Parliament proceedings until their demands are met through sloganeering.

Despite Congress' obstructions, the Speaker has decided to proceed with convening the House session amidst the protests by the opposition party.

It remains to be seen if the government will be able to successfully pass its policy and program agenda in tomorrow's meeting amid the current political turmoil.
