PM Prachanda's Talks Fail to Break Parliament Impasse

Discussions between Prime Minister Prachanda and leaders from both the ruling coalition and opposition were unable to resolve the ongoing impasse in the parliament session.

The primary obstacle hindering progress is the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party. They are firm in their insistence on establishing a parliamentary inquiry committee. Their argument is that such a committee is necessary to investigate allegations of fraud within cooperative organizations. Krishna Sitaula and Gagan Thapa, leaders of the Nepali Congress, expressed their strong stance on this issue during the meeting.

On the other hand, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli expressed adamant opposition to the establishment of this committee. The meeting failed to reach any conclusions due to the discord.

PM Prachanda, KP Oli, Madhav Kumar Nepal (Chairman of the CPN Unified Socialist Party), Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane, and Sitaula and Thapa from the Nepali Congress all attended the discussion.

After the meeting at Baluwatar did not achieve the expected results, Speaker Devraj Ghimire is currently involved in individual conversations with leaders from the ruling party inside the parliament building.
