The cooperative operators' assets will be frozen, and the funds will be returned to the victims.

In an effort to provide assistance to individuals affected by fraudulent cooperative schemes, Nepal's Home Minister, Ravi Lamichhane, has unveiled a strategy to halt the assets of deceitful cooperative operators and accelerate the process of recovering stolen funds.

The plan focuses on individuals who have fled, been found guilty of fraud, or caused financial harm to victims. Confiscated assets will now be utilized to provide compensation to victims, bypassing the need for lengthy legal procedures. This is made possible by a new law that enables the expedited sale of seized assets.

Putting the needs of the most impacted individuals first, the program will concentrate on providing financial relief to small borrowers who are experiencing severe financial difficulties. However, individuals who have engaged in fraudulent activities against cooperatives will be given an opportunity to return the funds they have unlawfully obtained.

Lamichhane stressed the pressing nature of the situation, underscoring the prolonged traditional legal procedures that worsen the plight of victims. Countless individuals are facing immense challenges as they grapple with meeting essential requirements and repaying loans, all because of the unfortunate loss of their savings.

This plan demonstrates the government's dedication to ensuring prompt financial assistance for victims and preventing future instances of fraud in the cooperative sector.

We are eagerly anticipating more information about the recently passed legislation and how it will be put into action.
