Ireland men's cricket team set for historic Test tour of Pakistan in 2025

The Ireland men's cricket team is all set to make history by embarking on their first-ever Test tour of Pakistan in August and September of 2025. Originally scheduled for a limited-overs series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is as per the Future Tours Programme 2023-27, the tour has now been revised to a Test series after discussions between Cricket Ireland and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The confirmation of this landmark tour came after a meeting held in Dublin on Sunday between Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the PCB, and Brian MacNeice, Chairman of Cricket Ireland. During the meeting, MacNeice warmly welcomed Naqvi and presented him with an Ireland cricket team jersey as a gesture of appreciation.

"We are delighted to confirm that the Ireland men's team will be touring Pakistan for a Test series in 2025," said MacNeice. "This will be a historic moment for Irish cricket, and we are grateful to the PCB for their support in making this tour a reality."

The meeting also facilitated discussions regarding women's cricket series, with both parties expressing mutual interest in organizing bilateral series between their respective women's teams in the future.

Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive Officer of Cricket Ireland, expressed his excitement about the upcoming tour, stating, "Pakistan has a rich cricketing history, and we are honored to have the opportunity to play Test cricket in their backyard. This tour will be a great learning experience for our players and will further strengthen the cricketing ties between our two nations."

The exact dates and venues for the Test series are yet to be finalized, but the cricket fraternity in both countries is eagerly anticipating this milestone event, which promises to be a significant step forward in Ireland's cricketing journey.
